Matt Wearn has been sailing since he was five years old and representing Australia for over a decade, after choosing the sport over a possible career in Australian Rules football. A consummate team player, Wearn has challenged Tom Burton to be his best before and after Rio, and has snared some impressive victories in recent times, including becoming the first Australian since Tom Slingsby in 2008 to win the Laser Euros.

My sporting hero is

Michael Jordan because of his professionalism and sheer ability to dominate a game of basketball. He also has some pretty good quotes.
